Half Time
We're halfway through hump-day and just about halfway through summer. Normally, I'd feel bad pointing something like that out, but so far summer's been letting me down. It's just too hot. It's too hot (and too humid) to run, too hot to bike ride and too hot to lie out in Central Park. So, I'm moving on and starting to think about fall, and the fall half marathon(s) I'm going to do. I've given myself a deadline of this weekend to sign up and book hotels.
The local races aren't going to work out for me this year. There's a half in NYC on October 2, but I have a huge work thing the following week, so that's probably a bad plan. Staten Island is on the October 10, but I'm in a wedding the night before.
So, right now, my two top choices are the Amica Half Marathon in Newport, RI on Oct 17 and the Philadelphia Half Marathon on Nov. 21. Newport is beautiful and I have friends in RI who I haven't seen in a long time, so that would be nice. On the other hand, I'll probably know people running Philly and everyone loves that race. I'm toying with doing both...
Any advice? Other suggestions?

PS - The Lululemon on East 66th is hosting a lecture by Team Lipstick founder Laura Cozik on Tuesday the 27th at 8:15pm entitled Train Fast for a Half Marathon that sounds pretty interesting. I'm hoping to check that out. I'll keep you posted!

I think you can do both! Josh did the Newport Half last year - he said the course was good but the weather happened to be really miserable that day. I guess you never know at that time of year. Good luck!
I just checked your blog and saw the mention of your Rhody friends. Glad to get a shout out and can't wait to see you this fall!
Thanks Meghann, thanks RI Friend! I'm all signed up!
