September Update

Happy September, everyone!  September is Yoga Month.  That means lots of free yoga classes to choose from.  Click here to learn more.

September is also the month in which I will compete in Fight Gone Bad 5 to raise money for Livestrong, the Wounded Warrior Project and the CrossFit Foundation.  I'm well on my way to meeting my fundraising goals and appreciate all your support!

The Newport Half Marathon is less than two months away (and Philly's just a few weeks after that.)  My training got off to a rocky start, but I recently ran a 10 mile race in Brooklyn and felt pretty good, so I think that's a good sign.  I'm still determined to beat my Disney Princess time.

I'm also part way through the 100 Push-up Challenge.  I've managed to strain my shoulder a bit (from lawyering, not push-ups), so I'm taking it easy this week, but I expect to jump back in soon.

Also, some of you have asked if I've broken my one pull-up record.  It hasn't happened yet, but I am still working at it almost every time I'm in the gym and promise to keep you posted!

Yoga Rocks Rocks

So often, funky NYC yoga class take place in the evening when yours truly is trapped in the office.  So, when the lovely ladies at Well and Good NYC mentioned that Sports Club LA was offering 6:15 am Yoga Rocks classes at the Top of the Rock through the end of August, I immediately picked up the phone to sign up.

The view before classI am so glad that I did.  I went this morning and it was amazing.  The setting at the Top of the Rock was serene and perfect for morning yoga.  When class began, the moon hovered not far from the Statue of Liberty.  The air was cool, the view clear, and, 67 stories up, the city was silent.

A few times during class, I couldn't quite close my eyes when we were supposed to.  It was just so nice gazing out at the downtown view.  During savasana, I watched the clouds.

The Vinyasa was excellent.  Our instructor, Angel, was sweet and welcoming.  She made it easy for advanced students and beginners alike to work at their own level.  I found the class challenging and invigorating.  My arms definitely got a nice workout and, two hours later, I'm still feeling stretchy and open.  Without a doubt, I'm  going back.

The view after classRegistration for Yoga Rocks opens 24 hours before each Tuesday and Thursday class.  Classes are free to members and $25 for non-members.  Contact Lisa Gausepohl at lisagausepohl@thesportsclub.com or 212-218-8600 sign up.  Just don't take my spot!

I Told You So (Yoga w/ Bob Harper Revisited)

So, remember how I told you that I knew the photographer was taking pictures of my feet during yoga with Bob Harper on Wednesday?  Well, I was right and my feet are on Facebook.  Exhibit A:

Here are a few others just so this isn't a whole post about my feet:
