Race Training
Since I didn't PR in in the NYC Half this month, I've signed up for the Brooklyn Half. (Yes, I was one of the lucky few who signed up right at noon before it sold out!) This time, I'm going to train and I'm going to shave at least that minute off my time.
I've also signed up for the Pump and Run, which takes place in a few weeks. I did this event last year and had a blast. It combines a bench press for reps (capped at 45 reps) with a 5k race. Each bench press rep you get shaves 20 seconds off your time.
We've got a great group from CrossFit Metropolis singed up for the Pump and Run, and we kicked off our training with a 5k time trial this morning.
Here's how it went:
It's not my best 5k ever, but it's also not too far off. And considering that I'm sore from last night's deadlifts and the backsquats from the night before, I'm pretty pleased. Also, we ran at 6am. My goal for the Pump and Run is to not let my pace drift above 8:15/8:20 (I think).
After the run, we wrapped up the session with a five minute AMRAP of 30 situps and 20 walking lunges. I am very ready for breakfast!
Happy Thursday, everyone!
